TEMPI is a 6-channel polyphonic "time shifting" module. Creates complex clocks in modular systems and provides an intuitive way to recall them later. You can create a rhythm like a classic clock divider / multiplier and then create a new rhythm from it. Up to 64 rhythms can be stored, and they can be selected by voltage using the CV or Select Bus in the modular. An external clock patched to the TEMPO jack is used as the master clock. If not patched, the last saved tempo will be used, but synchronization using the Eurorack-powered Gate bus is also possible by setting.
How to Use
To program the clock for each channelHumanMode andMachineTwo modes are possible. Programming in Human mode can be done simply by tapping the button for each channel (the resolution to correct the deviation can also be set).
In Machine mode, hold down PGM A (divide: 1 / X) or PGM B (multiply: X times) and press the channel button X times. 1/32 to 32 times is possible. The clock you typed inSlightly shift speedThe clock can be a non-integer multiple of the master clock or a fraction of a non-integer. Press PGM A or B while holding down the button of the channel you want to shift to slow down or speed up.
The clock entered in Machine mode has the same speed,Shift the timing (phase)It is also possible. Press PGM A and PGM together to enter Phase setting mode, then press the channel button while holding down the PGM A or B button according to the direction of the timing shift to correct the coarse timing. Press the PGM A or PGM B button after pressing the channel button to correct the fine timing.
mutePress the PGM A button to enter Mute mode, then press the channel you want to mute.
ModUsing the inputs, you can switch between the start / stop / reset control and output trigger channels. This target channel can be selected, press the PGM B button to enter Mod mode, and then select the channel you want to mod.
StateIs the clock information set for all channels, 16 can be saved per bank, and can be selected with the knob or voltage. Press CH4 while pressing both PGM A and B buttons.Copy state, Press CH5State pastePress CH6Paste by adding variations based on the copied stateTo do. Save is done while pressing both PGM A and B buttons.
Major features
The main features are as follows.
6-channel clock that can be programmed and patched
Two programs are available: an intuitive HUMAN program and an accurate MACHINE program
ClockNumber of divisions / multiples, phase (timing shift), Mute, ModCan be programmed
Non-integer divisions / multiplesDepending on the phase and phase, asynchronous and out-of-sync rhythms are also easier, opening up the traditional clock-based limitations.
Clock ModCan shift channels and control Run / Stop
All programming is done in real time,StateAnd can be called later
State is stored somewhere in 4 banks (64 states in total) that can store 16 states.
State can be selected by voltage.
The external tempo stores the last saved tempo.
Produces a stable clock with little jitter.
Good compatibility with Rene2.

Mute
In mute mode,Press the PGM A buttonenter. Press the button for each channel to switch between mute and unmute.
Human Programming
In Human programming, you can tap the button of the channel you want to program at least twice to determine the clock speed. It is an intuitive way to determine the number of divisions / multiples and phase (timing) at the same time.
The accuracy of Human programming can be set to three levels of resolution with buttons 1 to 3 on the ProgramEdit page. For details on the settings, refer to the description of ProgramEdit. At a setting of 100%, the rhythm is strongly quantized, and at 25%, the weakest quantization.
Machine Programming
This is a programming method in which the number of divisions / multiples and the phase (timing) are set by hitting with a button. While holding down PGM A (divide: 1 / X) or PGM B (multiply: X times)Press the channel button X times. 1/32 to 32 times is possible. To return to 1: 1 press the channel button once while holding down PGM A and B.
* After TEMPI31, press PGM_A and press a channel button X times, then press PGM_A and press PGM_B Y times to divide 1 / (X * 2 ^ Y). If PGM_A and B are reversed, the same operation will result in (X * 2 ^ Y) times multiply.
Of the clock typed in Machine modeShift the timing (phase)InPress both PGM A and PGMBEnter the Phase setting mode. Depending on the direction to shift the timingHold down the PGM A or B buttonPress the channel button to correct the coarse timing. Press the PGM A or PGM B button after pressing the channel button to correct the fine timing.
Mod
By Mod input, shiftOrRun / StopCan be controlled by the gate signal. To select a Mod targetPress the PGM B buttonGo to the Mod page. You can switch ON / OFF whether or not to target the Mod by pressing the channel button (the shift is also performed within the selected channel).
States Edit
Tempi can store 64 clock scenarios in 4 banks as 16 states. The states can be controlled by the center knob or CV, and can be sequenced by the gate input. Also save and load states, copy paste, etc. While pressing both PGM A and PGM BDo this by pressing each channel button: Press Button 1 to reload the current state. Press button 2 to save the current state. Press Button 3 to reload the current bank. Press button 4 to copy the currently selected state. Press button 5 to paste the copied state. Press button 6 to change (Mutate) the copied state and paste it.
Bank Edit
To the Bank Edit page,Press the PGM A button twicePlease come in. Each button allows you to edit the contents of the bank. Press Button 1 to select a bank. (Switches between banks 1-4) Press Button 2 to save all banks and tempos. Press Button 3 to enable the Select bus or Tempo bus. Press Button 4 to copy the currently selected bank. Press button 5 to paste the copied bank into the currently selected bank. Press button 6 to change (Mutate) the copied bank to the currently selected bank and paste.
ProGraM Edit
To the Program Edit page,Press the PGM B button twicePlease come in. Detailed settings are possible with each button.
Buttons 1-3 allow you to set the resolution for Human programming. 1 is 100%, 2 is 50%, and 3 is 20%.
4-6 are the MOD settings, press the button until the color corresponds to the desired setting. Button 4 changes the way the MOD output is shifted. Pressing this button disables run / stop control using the MOD. Clockwise shift: red Counterclockwise shift: blue Shift randomly: purple It becomes.
Button 5 sets the run / stop control by MOD. Pressing this button disables the output shift by MOD.
-RUN / STOP (CH5 = red): On the MOD page, the channel targeted by the MOD is run when MOD = ON, and stopped when MOD = OFF -RUN / STOP ALL (CH5 = blue): Regardless of whether the target is MOD or not, all run when MOD = ON and stop when MOD = OFF -RUN / STOP ALT (CH5 = purple): MOD = ON runs the channel targeted by MOD, and stops by MOD = ON on channels not targeted by MOD. MOD = OFF is the opposite
Button 6 has different items that can be set depending on whether the MOD control is output shift or run / stop. In the case of output shift, it becomes the setting of Jumbled shift or normal shift. In the case of run / stop, the setting is whether the run / stop is toggled by the MOD gate (button light OFF) or the state changes only during the gate ON (momentary, button red).
Firmware Update
* The latest firmware is 31 as of August 2017. If firmware 31 is already installed, buttons 1,2,3,4,5 will blink when power is turned on. In other cases, update according to the following procedure.
The firmware update method is as follows. Update the audio file by pouring it into TEMPI.
This pageDownload the latest version of the ZIP file from the link inside and unzip the ZIP file.
Prepare to play the audio file tempi (number) .wav in the decompressed file. The playback device can be a smartphone, PC, DAW, etc., but make sure that no other sounds are heard. If the firmware update fails during playback, TEMPI loses its normal function and becomes unusable until the firmware update succeeds.
Set the volume of the playback device to 100%. Be sure to turn off Ableton's Warp function.
Leave TEMPI still powered off.
Patch the cable from the audio file output jack on the playback device to the TEMPO jack on TEMPI.
Insert the patch cable as a dummy into the MOD jack of TEMPI, and do not connect the other to anywhere.
Turn on the power while holding down the 2, 4 and 6 buttons of TEMPI.
Press and hold the three buttons until the STATE LED alternates between red and orange.
Start playing the audio file.
If the channel buttons blink alternately and the STATE LED starts blinking green, the firmware update process is successful.
When the audio file has finished playing, TEMPI will automatically restart and return to normal.
